Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a medication developed by Eli Lilly. It was originally approved for type 2 diabetes management and subsequently approved for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with at least one weight-related health condition.

The HSE obesity-medicines guidance, checked 15 October 2026, says Mounjaro is not covered by the medical card, Drugs Payment Scheme or Long-Term Illness Scheme.
