What are GLP-1 weight loss injections?
GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonists are a class of medications that work by mimicking a hormone your body naturally produces after eating. They reduce appetite, slow digestion, and help you feel fuller for longer. In clinical trials, people taking them alongside diet and activity changes lost more weight on average than people given a placebo. Results vary from person to person, and a prescriber decides whether treatment suits you.
How much do GLP-1 injections cost in Ireland?
Costs usually have two parts: the consultation or prescription fee, and the medicine price charged by the pharmacy. Some routes publish a total monthly price; others do not publish the pharmacy price. Added up from medicine prices checked 12 October 2026 and consultation fees checked 14 October 2026, the lowest fully known first-four-week totals are €255 for Wegovy 0.25 mg and €292.95 for Mounjaro 2.5 mg, consultation, medicine and delivery included. Compare the source-checked provider rows above and confirm the final total before paying.
Am I eligible for GLP-1 weight loss injections?
Irish providers generally work to the licensed criteria: a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 to under 30 with at least one weight-related condition. The EU licence names prediabetes or type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea and cardiovascular disease. Meeting them does not guarantee a prescription. A doctor reviews your full medical history and makes the decision.
Is Ozempic available for weight loss in Ireland?
No. Ozempic (semaglutide) is licensed in Ireland only for type 2 diabetes, not for weight loss. The semaglutide product licensed for weight management is Wegovy, which contains the same active ingredient at a higher dose.
Do I need a GP referral to get GLP-1 injections?
No. All the online providers listed on this site offer their own medical consultation as part of the process. You do not need a referral from your GP, though it is always a good idea to let your GP know about any new medication you are starting.
Are online GLP-1 providers in Ireland safe?
They can be safe when they use a regulated prescribing and pharmacy pathway. GLP-1.ie lists providers based on public information and provider checks, but you should still verify the prescriber, pharmacy, current pricing, and consultation process before ordering. Avoid any source offering GLP-1 medications without a proper medical consultation.
Is GLP-1.ie a clinic or pharmacy?
No. GLP-1.ie is an independent guide that compares Irish GLP-1 providers and published prices. We are not a clinic, pharmacy or prescriber, we cannot give medical advice, and we cannot see your booking, prescription, order or refund with a provider. For those, contact the provider directly.
How is GLP-1.ie paid for?
GLP-1.ie is free to use and never charges you. There are no active paid provider relationships or referral fees. Any future paid placement will be clearly labelled. Providers can pay for a labelled verified partner profile; payment never changes the order or removes a safety warning.
Why does GLP-1.ie ask for my email?
The eligibility check shows your result once your request is saved, and saving needs your email so we can confirm it. If saving fails, you can still see your result without saving. After a save you get one confirmation email from hello@glp1.ie and, unless you stop them, up to two short follow-ups about your request. None of these emails repeats your health answers. We only share your details with a provider if you ask us to introduce you. We do not sell your data.
Who sees my answers?
GLP-1.ie does. Your saved answers are stored in a database hosted by Supabase in the EU (Ireland region), and the public website cannot read them back. Our emails never repeat your health answers. We only pass your details to a provider if you ask us to introduce you, and only with your explicit consent.
How do I stop emails or delete my data?
Reply STOP to any email about your saved result and we will not send you any more emails about it. To withdraw a price or HSE alert, or to have your details deleted, email hello@glp1.ie from the address you used. A person reads every email, and we aim to reply within two working days. The privacy policy explains what we keep and for how long.
How is the order of providers set?
By one published editorial order: a human judgement informed by public-evidence breadth, fee transparency, route clarity and profile completeness. Consultation services listed without medicine detail follow in a fixed sorting order. A medicine filter can remove a provider but never reorders the rest, and payment cannot change the order.
